As cats get older they become prone to developing conditions such as high blood pressure, chronic kidney disease, hyperthyroidism, heart disease, diabetes and osteoarthritis. A recent study showed that 40% of cats over the age of 7 had high blood pressure and 20-50% of cats over the age of 15 year had chronic kidney disease. 90% of cats aged 10+ have some signs of osteoarthritis.
Cats are great at disguising illness and pain and often the signs of some of these conditions are subtle and can go unnoticed until the disease is much more advanced.
Cheshire Pet Medical Centre has always strived to provide the best possible care to its feline patients. Therefore, we are delighted to welcome you and your cat to our Life-Stage Clinics where we can take a holistic look at your cat’s nutrition wellbeing and lifestyle!
Held in our purpose designed cat clinic, your cat will have a 40-minute health examination paying particular attention to nutrition, body weight, lifestyle and behaviour. It is an ideal opportunity to ask any questions you may have about your older cat. As part of the clinic, we will run a urine test to check for problems such as kidney disease, cystitis and other urinary tract problems- and don’t worry, we supply some cat friendly litter so you can collect a sample of urine!
We have two clinics available, depending on the age of your cat:
- Midlife Wellness (age 7-10 years)
- Super Seniors (age 11 years +)
The aim of the clinics is to detect important conditions much sooner in our older cats so that we can implement monitoring and treatment earlier to ensure your feline friend can live a long and healthy life. We can also advise on behavioural problems such as toileting outside the litter tray (house-soiling), confusion and vocalising, as well as changes in mobility and social interaction that your cat may be experiencing as they grow older.
Cost - £149 (a saving of over £200)
